“You are today where your thoughts have brought you. You will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.”
At least that’s what James Allen said.
Does this statement ring true to you? Is life simply a result of your thoughts?
And if it is, does that mean you can create any life you want?
Thinking.
It’s the most powerful activity known to humankind. With the power of your thoughts, you become the creator. René Descartes said “I think, therefore I am.” Your thinking creates your “I am.”
This concept could either be the most empowering—or the most terrifying—thought you have to wrap your mind around this year.
You are the creator. So if you don’t like what you have created so far, guess who can change it? Yes, you. And if you want 2015 to be the best year yet, guess who has the power to craft it? Yes, again, it is you.
And you are amazing!
Through the power of your thoughts you claim dominion over your life. Your thoughts create your beliefs and the filters through which you view the world. Do you want loving relationships? A great job? Physical vitality? Joy? Financial prosperity?
It’s all there for you to claim. You get to choose the life you want. Yay!
So what will it be?
On December 31, 2015, what is the life you want to look back on? What will you have achieved? Whose lives have you impacted for the better? What joy have you experienced? How has your life thrived? Have you even thought that far ahead?
I used to say, “I can’t wait until this time next year so I can look back and see what I’ve done.” Now I see that I don’t have to wait. I can shape that memory by shifting my thinking now.
Imagine creating the life you want as if you were writing an autobiographical novel.
Would your book be a thriller? A love story? An overcoming of physical or financial adversity? Think big!
According to William Arthur Ward, “Nothing limits achievement like small thinking; nothing expands possibilities like unleashed thinking.” What would “unleashed thinking” be for you? A new home? Job? Relationship? Perfect health and wellbeing? Running a marathon? Becoming a chef? Elected president? Abundant wealth?
The list for an unleashed thinker is endless.
“But there are circumstances outside my control,” you might be thinking.
Yes, there are outside conditions impacting your life, but do you want to be limited by conditions or led by possibilities? How would it be to embrace an affirmation of “I live life led by possibilities and unleashed thinking!” versus the “I can’t because life is hard.” affirmation so many people use. Henry Ford said, “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”
And there’s that word again—“think.”
Ford also said, “Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it.” In this year 2015, are you ready to be one of the few who live life led by possibilities and unleashed thinking? Or will you be constrained by “conditions”? It’s wonderful how much power you have.
You have the power of choice. How about choosing unleashed thinking and endless possibilities? How about a possibility adventure for 2015?
Deep inside, you know the kind of life you yearn to live. Perhaps you have not yet allowed yourself to consider that your yearning lives in the realm of possibility. In one form or another the life you desire does exist.
Bring to mind your “unleashed thinking.”
On a piece of paper with the title “My 2015 Possibility Adventure,” write down your vision. Be clear on what it is you want. Phrase it as if it has already happened. This anchors your vision so that it is not watered down or distracted by butterfly or monkey mind thoughts.
Then drill down.
What would it take to achieve that vision? What kind of a person would you need to be to live that life? Would a person living that vision need to be loving or forgiving? Would that person need to hone their abilities in a particular field or skill set? Would that person exercise and eat a healthy diet? What habits, beliefs, thought patterns, and commitment would that person need to have?
Write that down too.
Write it as if you were already that person. Now you and the resources necessary to achieve that vision know how to support you in becoming your dream. That way, when December 31, 2015 arrives, you will look back with a sense of fulfillment and fully understand Albert Einstein’s words, “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”
So, if you think you can…
